The Intronati Municipal Library is both a conservation library and a public reading library; this dual nature is reflected in the variety of services offered and in the heritage preserved: over 600,000 documents including manuscripts, ancient and modern printed books, drawings, prints, engravings, photographs, archival documents, periodicals, daily newspapers, magazines and multimedia material. As a conservation library, its main task is the conservation, collection, organisation, cataloguing, protection, study, enhancement and promotion of ancient, rare and valuable collections (see dedicated sections). As a public library, it offers the public constantly updated resources in many fields of knowledge – mainly in the humanities – capable of satisfying various needs for reading, information, study and updating at a popular and, in some cases, specialist level.
